As most of you know, Maggie Grace was born on April 2 at 12:20 pm. She weighed 8 lbs. 3 oz. and was 22 inches long. She was just a little bit late. I'll tell the story in a nutshell.....
On April 1 I woke up around 7 with contractions, but I thought it might be false labor. I didn't want to end up at the hospital only to be sent home! So I just hung around the house. Aaron and I watched tv and even went for a walk around the neighborhood. I didn't feel TOO terrible at that point. Finally around 6 that night, we decided to go to the hospital. Sure enough it was the real thing. Hooray! My contractions were actually pretty strong, so I got a little bit of meds through my iv. That made me pretty loopy. Later that night I got an epidural...which was nice. My doctor came to check on me at 7 that morning, and there was little change....so they introduced pitocin. Ugh! That stuff was bad. I was on it for 2 hours, and they kept upping and upping the dosage. After 2 hours of that awful stuff...well, 1/2 cm. change. At that point we went the c-section route. It was all okay though. My body handled the c-section well, and we went home on the 4th after only a few blips in the road.
Now to Maggie....she is doing well. She has surpassed her birth weight and has even been to the pediatrician twice. She didn't like it much, but we managed. She is absolutely beautiful with lots of dark hair and long skinny(Aaron) legs. At some point I will post some pics, but it's been pretty busy around here.
We went to church for the first time last night. That was an experience. I spent the majority of the time in the cry room since the velociraptor decided it was time to eat! Considering all things it was a good outing.
We have had lots of help at home and great friends have been bringing us food. So super! I'm sure when all that is gone and it get back to "normal" around here I'll really miss it. For now, I'm enjoying it!!!
I promise I'll be a better mommy/blogger...when I have the time anyway.....
